A document isn't a payment
An invoice can show a price without proving a transaction actually settled.
SpendStamp helps airlines verify baggage reimbursement claims directly against authorized financial transaction records. Reduce improper payouts, streamline claims processing, and pay only when we deliver measurable savings.
THE PROBLEM
Claims teams are asked to decide what to reimburse using screenshots, PDFs, and long email chains. In the age of generative AI, convincing-looking documents are no longer strong proof of payment.
An invoice can show a price without proving a transaction actually settled.
Adjusters chase receipts and bank statements. Travelers resubmit the same evidence.
Carriers have limited visibility into potentially reused transactions across organizations.
A BETTER DEFAULT
The planned pilot workflow brings transaction evidence into the airline’s existing claims process. Product previews below are illustrative.
The airline creates a claim-verification request and sends the traveler a secure link.
Add purchases, merchants, amounts, and dates. Group multiple items under one merchant transaction.
The traveler authorizes a supported financial account through a provider such as Plaid. Provider integration is planned.
SpendStamp compares submitted expenses with available financial transaction records and flags exceptions.
Match results, exceptions, and the supporting record return to the airline for a reimbursement decision.
SpendStamp verifies payments where transaction data is available; it does not independently prove individual items, coverage eligibility, or the absence of fraud.
THE DIFFERENCE
A receipt may say a replacement suitcase cost $1,010. SpendStamp checks for an authorized transaction with a matching merchant, amount, and date—and clearly identifies what still needs review.
EVERY CLAIM. ONE STANDARD.
Verification shouldn't be reserved for people an airline already suspects. The planned workflow gives every claimant a clear process, with alternative documentation for cash or unsupported accounts. A failed bank match must never automatically mean fraud or claim denial.
COMMERCIAL MODEL
Start with the airline's historical claims baseline, run SpendStamp for 90 days, and reconcile changes in confirmed improper payments and verified handling savings.
Proposed pilot fee: 50% of independently verified net savings. No success fee on unsupported fraud suspicions or legitimate claim denials.
A lower payout is not automatically fraud prevented. Legitimate reimbursements and case-level evidence remain part of the reconciliation.
Airline savings are after the SpendStamp fee, before implementation costs. These assumptions are not industry statistics or promised results. Actual fees depend on independently validated net savings after agreed adjustments and costs.
THE LONG-TERM ADVANTAGE
As participation grows, the future network could help identify reused transactions, confirmed duplicate reimbursements, overlapping claims, previous verified evidence, and relevant refunds or reversals. Sharing would depend on customer consent, applicable law, and contractual data-sharing restrictions.
Higher-quality evidence records.
Specific, explainable cross-carrier signals.
More relevant evidence as participation grows.
Future product vision, not a live capability. No secret traveler honesty score. Previous claims alone would never be treated as evidence of dishonesty.
COMMON QUESTIONS
The planned dossier supports a single purchase or multiple purchases. Multiple items paid for together can be grouped under one merchant transaction.
No. A bank match helps establish that money was spent at a merchant, on an approximate date, for a matching amount. Exact items and coverage eligibility may need additional proof.
The planned workflow accepts alternative documentation. The airline would receive alternative evidence and a clearly marked review path rather than an automatic denial.
No. The planned product sits upstream of existing airline approvals and payout providers. The airline keeps control over claim decisions and disbursement.
The product is designed to share only relevant verification results and evidence, not unrelated transactions. Exact data access and retention depend on permissions and provider terms.
